First Master Gardener Garden Tour
Set for Oct. 1
Eight home gardens tended by Master Gardeners in the Pt. Loma area will be open for visits for “Autumn in the Garden Tour & Market” sponsored by the San Diego Master Gardener Association.
The first-ever tour will be held Oct. 1, at the start of San Diego’s enviable fall planting season. Tickets will go on sale in August on our Web site.
The open gardens will showcase diverse water-wise styles and amenities ranging from outdoor kitchens to chicken coups. All will feature docent-led tours, educational displays on everything from citrus to composting and extensive plant identification.
In addition the event will include a marketplace featuring hand-crafted garden art including birdhouses, butterfly water dishes, crystal garden totems and hypertufa pots. Plants, including many of the notable plants seen in the tour gardens, also will be for sale.
Details on the gardens and marketplace will be highlighted in upcoming issues of “Dig It!” Meanwhile, mark your calendars to hold the date for this one-of-a-kind tour.
